he's got the whole world in his hands...

down and dirty

finally! after numerous years of ignoring the urge to sink my hands into a soft, moist patch of earth, a garden plot that needs some love has fallen into my lap. i've been living in apartments with no garden access for a number of years now, have thought about community gardens, but never got much farther than thinking, and just very recently discovered that a classmate of mine has some space for gardening that she has graciously invited me to help her with. i don't know how much help i'll be, but i'm excited about the opportunity to grow something. to work the earth with my hands, embed tiny seeds into it with love and care, and to watch as the bounty of nature rises up to bear fruit (and veg, and flower). to be able to grow and harvest my own energy sources, know what i'm putting into my body, where it came from, and how it was grown. to develop a stronger relationship with the great mother, to take time to listen to her wisdom, to bask in the complex and simple beauty of her creations, and to give thanks for her generosity, to take time to be still and be one with the earth... sigh.

i'd like to use this blog to brag about my gardening accomplishments and failures alike. be prepared for amateur nature photography. i'm sure i'll post many questions as i reach hurtles in the process, and i would love whatever feedback you can give.

wish me luck!
